About Rosetta Projects
Rosetta Projects is a communications network of writers, editors, researchers, artists, designers, and printers; the network re-shapes itself as needed for each project. The company grew out of several successful ventures into recording and publishing community history. This work led naturally to recording and publishing life stories, drawing on a background in education, writing, and journalism.
Rosetta Projects produces clear, concise documents for corporate and private clients. We like to take large bodies of data and information, determine the intended message and audience, and then incorporate these elements into usable, understandable and attractive communications packages.
We have the privilege of working with these clients:
Central Regional Health Authority - Manitoba
Rosetta Projects writes and edits Central RHA's semi-annual newsletter, which is distributed to
98,000 people in the region. We also work with Central RHA on specific communications projects, such as position documents, annual reports and website materials.
Mishkeegogamang First Nation
Rosetta Projects worked with the community over several years to research, photograph, write and publish a community history, called Mishkeegogamang: The Land, the People and the Purpose. The materials gathered for the book were then used to produce and publish a package of culture-appropriate learning for the community school, with materials at each grade level in language arts, geography, history and health.
Rural Municipality of Morris, Manitoba Rosetta Projects researched, photographed, wrote and published a promotional brochure for the RM of Morris.
Roseau River Anishinabe First Nation
Rosetta Projects has managed a variety of communications projects for RRAFN, including a community newspaper, a full-colour community profile, program evaluations, and community health plan.
Classroom Ready Rosetta Projects works as a subcontractor for Classroom Ready, editing and developing lessons for its weekly and monthly current events publications for Canadian classrooms.
Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug First Nation
Rosetta Projects worked with the community to research, photograph, write and publish a community history. The full-colour hardcover book, called We are One with the Land: A history of Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug, was printed in June, 2007.
Why the company is called Rosetta Projects
The Rosetta Stone is a basalt slab that was found in 1799 in the small Egyptian village of Rosetta (Rashid). The stone is so important because it contains the same text written in two languages (Egyptian and Greek), using three scripts (hieroglyphic, demotic and Greek) commonly used in Egypt at the time the stone was carved - 196 B.C. In 1822 a French scholar was able to decipher the hieroglyphics. He proved that hieroglyphs have not only symbolic meaning but that they also served as a spoken language. In this crucial breakthrough, previously silent symbols were translated into a living language.
We chose the name Rosetta Projects for our company because of this symbolism. Our passion is to help people and communities to discover and record their history, unlocking the "hieroglyphics" of the past to enrich present lives and future generations.
The Story Company
In 2006 Rosetta Projects added a division called The Story Company for our work with life stories.
